You scored as Buddhism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Buddhism. Do more research on Buddhism and possibly consider becoming Buddhist, if you are not already.

In Buddhism, there are Four Noble Truths: (1) Life is suffering. (2) All suffering is caused by ignorance of the nature of reality and the craving, attachment, and grasping that result from such ignorance. (3) Suffering can be ended by overcoming ignorance and attachment. (4) The path to the suppression of suffering is the Noble Eightfold Path, which consists of right views, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right-mindedness, and right contemplation. These eight are usually divided into three categories that base the Buddhist faith: morality, wisdom, and samadhi, or concentration. In Buddhism, there is no hierarchy, nor caste system; the Buddha taught that one's spiritual worth is not based on birth.

housesitting... [19 Feb 2006|10:36pm]

I am writing this on a foreign (as in, not my usual machine) computer. It's quite different. This dog is licking my pants.

Shit yeah. I am housesitting/dogsitting all week next week. Should be pretty intense. Actually, it'll just be me sitting in a strange house doing schoolwork rather than me sitting in my basement doing schoolwork. Anyway, I just finished the Paranoia Agent series. Damn fine. And now I am continuing the first season of 24. God I forgot how awesome this is.

ok go... [25 Jan 2006|11:31pm]
[ mood | crazy ]

So Duker and I were driving around tonight listening to WBRU when they announced they were giving away tickets to tomorrow night's ok go concert at Lupo's. So jokingly, I called up and apparently, I was the 95th caller. The DJ asked me how much I liked OK Go and I honestly answered, "Well I saw them open for They Might Be Giants about 5 years ago but I am looking forward to seeing them again." So she graciosly gave me the tickets even though I wasn't as enthusiastic as she'd hoped. I was on the radio and everything. Very exciting. So Duker and I will be going to see OK Go tomorrow evening if we can get there on time. If not, that means I took two tickets from someone who really likes them and wasted them. Oh well.

Right now I'm watching True Grit. You know, if anyone asks me if I like westerns, I usually say no. But when I start watching them, I usually end up liking them. This one is pretty good. Not as good as High Noon or Shane but its better than many westerns I have seen. If you are a fan of this genre check it out. But then again if you are a fan of westerns, chances are you've already seen it.

So I start classes tomorrow. The break was not nearly long enough and I am not looking forward to this at all. But in other news, I absolutely have to see Match Point soon. It's bad enough the movie didn't even open in Rhode Island until this past Friday but I haven't even seen it yet. I usually try to make it to see new Woody Allen movies opening week. Even though this may not be the typical Woody Allen, it still looks damn good. I must get to this movie. I need to fix this problem asap.

I am watching the second season of 24 on A&E (or whatever station it is being aired on). That is by far my favorite season. But it sucks because Ghostbusters 2 is on Spike tv. Ghostbusters 2 or 24? Quite the pickle.

the weekend. [15 Jan 2006|04:42pm]
[ mood | calm ]

Yes, the weekend. It was a very nice weekend.

Friday evening was spent at Chili's with Duker and Greg. We then headed over to Olive's for a night of rock with the Complaints. We heard "Mr. Jones" and "Semi Charmed Life." Let me tell you, it was almost too much rock for me.

Saturday at work was kinda lame. Afterwards, Duker, Greg, Laura and myself ate at the Cheesecake Factory. It was pretty badass. Chris and I got a couple of Scotch on the rocks. Definitely intense. We then went leather jacket shopping in the mall. After Duker and I parted ways with Greg and Laura, we headed over to Dave's for some drinks, kinda forgetting that the big Patriots game was on. Needless to say the place was packed with dipshits and dickheads. But we had fun. Saw a bunch of people we knew and all was well.

Today, went for breakfast at some place in East Greenwich. Considering I have eaten there before, you'd think I could remember the name. But it was good nonetheless. Now I am finishing up Fanny and Alexander. Pretty intense movie. If you like Ingmar Bergman films, I'd recommend it. Or even if you just like Swedish films. Or just movies with subtitles. Or movies in general. Or if you like people named Fanny, I'd suggest you see it.

My day off. [10 Jan 2006|07:43pm]
[ mood | content ]

Today was my day off.

Matt and I went to the movies! We saw Hostel with Lisa and then decided to sneak into Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire afterward. Hostel was decent and Harry Potter was quite good. But better than both these movies was Brokeback Mountain, which we saw on Sunday evening. Gay cowboys or not, it was a damn fine movie.

Other than that, I found out I have next week off as well. Apparently classes do not start until the following Monday.

So I guess if you were to attain any information from this post whatsoever, it would be that I have been going to the movies quite a bit in the past few days.

[ mood | accomplished ]

It has definitely been awhile but since it's not really all that cool to have a livejournal anymore, I figured what better time to start writing in it again. In short, Christmas break is good. First semester at grad school kicked my ass but I got all A's and B's so I feel accomplished. Christmas was fun. Duker got me the Robotech dvd box set so I have been watching it all day (because I had the day off and my car is in the shop getting fixed). New Years was also a good time and, to make a long story short, I am here. I'll probably try to post here more often and see if anyone notices.

[ mood | optimistic ]

Howdy, since I never seem to update this thing anymore I figured I'd give a 'lil recap of this past weekend's antics...

I suppose I'll start with...

THURSDAY: Thursday evening the Pukes made our way over to open mic night at the B's. Chris and Lisa showed up for this which was real cool because I went from seeing Chris everyday at work to seeing him once a month since he transferred over to the Cafe Newport. This was also a memorable open mic night because Doug and Biggie played with us, thus providing us with the "full band" Pukes sound. Damn good times.

FRIDAY: After work, Biggie and I went to Olive Garden for some dinner before picking up Duker and heading over to the Rocky Point Pub for the FAAF show. Got pretty drunk this night an woke up with a hang over for work the next morning...which leads to...

SATURDAY: After work, I met up with Biggie, Duker, Greg and Laura and we all went to Macaroni Grill for dinner. After that, Duker, Biggie and myself went down to Amalfi to meet up with some peoples and drink some beverages. Good times were had this evening as well.

SUNDAY: In the morning I headed over to the flea market with my pops and picked up some old school VHS tapes. That was followed by the big 4th of July party on the 3rd of July. Definitely a fun time, with the exception of the dogs getting out, thus leading to quite an eventful run around the neighborhood. Got pretty drunk this night as well. After the party, the Biggies and myself went to Denny's for food and called it a night.

MONDAY: I was very psyched I did not have to work yesterday. The day was pretty much spent at the "hizzouse party" at the condo with Biggie, greg and Laura. Watched some movies, ate some pasta salad and took the cover art photo for the next Pukes ep. Later on that night, I got together with Duker and we worked on layin' some shit down. More info to come on that later. But be prepared for some new Pukes shit.

That is all.

A synopsis of the road trip to Hartford. [20 Jun 2005|02:39pm]
[ mood | weird ]

So Allie and I went to Hartford yesterday for the Dave Matthews Band show at the Meadows. Apparently the fine people of Hartford do absolutely nothing on Sundays because the city was empty. There were no cars or people anywhere to be found. We were a little hungry/thirsty so we decided to head over to a nearby Dunkin Donuts, but we were denied our coffee due to the 6:00 closing time. We then tried the Burger King, only to find out that they closed at 4:00. And finally we saw a Subway (I don't even know why we even bothered) which closed at 5:00. Its not even like they all closed at the same time....like if there were a specified closing time for restaurants on Sundays. It was a mess. So we headed over to the venue and I got a $4 cup of soft serve ice cream and Allie got a $4 stale pretzel. Money well spent. We then ventured on over to check out Howie Day's set. He played with a full band and sounded great. "Secret," "Brace Yourself," and "Morning After" were a few of the songs we saw him play. We missed the first few songs of his set.

and now a brief synopsis of the DMB set:

Everyday - good opener. Not a big fan of the "new" arrangement of the song but decent nonetheless.
Ants Marching - a very surprising appearance of "Ants" this early in the set. Definitely tight.
Dream Girl - of all the new songs played, this is one I can stand more than others.
The Stone - Hell yeah! Definitely a highlight.
Rhyme & Reason - A pleasant surprise.
Louisiana Bayou - Proof positive, no matter how long you jam out the end of a crappy song, it's still a crappy song.
Out Of My Hands - So short it was over before I even realized it began.
Bartender - Hands down THE highlight of the show.
Crush - Good. Nice jam at the end.
Granny - Very pleasant surprise.
Stand Up - Shit. Seriously this song is complete and utter shit.
You Might Die Trying - Very impressive rendition of "Die Trying." Probably my favorite song from the new one.
Lover Lay Down - Good song. Disappointing performance. Way too drawn out at the end.
Hunger For The Great Light - Definitely rawkin.
Rapunzel - fantastic closer. Another highlight

Old Dirt Hill - God awful.
All Along The Watchtower - We left during this song to beat the traffic. We bought some quesidillas from some girl on the side of the road during the "wind begins to hoooowwll" part of the song. I guess we were still pretty close to the venue.

Of all the setlists thus far on the tour, I'd definitely say this was one of the better ones. I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a fun afternoon/night.

Wow...quite some time since I visited the 'ol live journal...

Loys 'o shit been happening. I've been sick on and off for the past few weeks (this past weekend hopefully reaching the end of that). The sickness sorta ruined the Ben Folds/Howie Day/Matt Nathanson show @ Brown on Saturday. Good show nonetheless. I got to see Matt Nathanson's cover of "Starfish and Coffee" which was pretty sweet. Howie Day's set was pretty short but definitely quality...even though he didn't play "Ghost," which he started but decided to play something else. (I also learned that Howie Day will be opening for Dave Matthews Band in Hartford. Yeah!) Ben Folds had the new backing band, consisting of the old school bass and drums. I usually don't like hearing other bands playing BFF tunes but "Philosophy" and "One Angry Dwarf..." were the only tww played with the band. The rest of the BFF matrial was played Ben solo (including "Brick," which, after seeing Ben five times including one show with the five, I had never seen). All things considered, a good time was had (despite the sickness and the rain).

And I also finally registered for my classes in the fall. Pretty sweet. I am oficially a college student again! Pretty intense.

Oh well. I'm not sure what else to write here. It's been so long.

I received a call from my mom today at while I was at work. Since I wasn't that busy I decided to pick it up. Apparently I have been accepted into the School of Education at URI and I have to attend a meeting with an advisor on Monday. Pretty sweet. They have recommended me for admission to the Graduate School, which pretty much means I am in. I just have to wait for the acceptance letter. Definitely some good news!

I just got a bit excited. Hence the quick post.

Weekend update time...

Friday evening was the big Atmosphere show @ the Living Room. Duker was wasn't able to form sentences when I called him (due to a stressful day at the 'ol 9 to 5) so I hit up the show with Allie and Matt. Excellent show. Lots of God Loves Ugly material played and the live band was tighter than Steely Dan's asshole. Excellent evening. Oh yeah, and I saw one of my students at Wendy's. That was kinda weird.

The FAAF show on Saturday was cancelled (hope everyone/thing is OK, there boys) so Allie and I got some food and Pinot Grigio at the Olive Garden and then watched some quality My So-Called Life and The 'Burbs while throwin' back some Black 'n tans.

Sunday, hit up some breakfast followed by some good times at the Aquafarm...intense shit right there and then went to They Might Be Giants @ Borders in the Providence Place Mall and shared some good times with Allie, Matt, Michelle and Steve (the motherfucking Bomb Squad). Excellent set. "Robot Parade," "New York City," and "Dr. Worm" were some of the highlights.

Today was work. Nothing really exciting to report there.

Good Lord, it's been almost a week!

I neglected my usual weekend update at the start of the week and way too much has happened for me to go and summarize...but good times were had. I had absolutely no money this week and somehow made it through the entire week without spending a dollar. I am actually pretty pleased with myself. Tuesday brought the snow and wind and ice and whatever else was blowing around out there. I decided to brave the elements and head over to Allie's. About an hour later I arrived. Bridgetown Road in a snow storm is some crazy shit let me tell you. We made some omelettes, watched some really bad mtv and played with Paolo the cat. Definitely fun times.

Last night (being Wednesday) was a real shitty night at work. I absolutely despise training people...especially idiots. But i suppose its all good. The weekend is near, the Pukes are playing tonight @ the B's and tomorrow I have money again! wooo! Hopefully (weather permitting) tomorrow evening I will be attending the Atmosphere show at the Living Room. Saturday will be spent drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon and rocking out with the Egyptians at Giza for the FAAF show and Sunday, They Might Be Giants will be doing one of their free things at Border's in the Providence Place Mall. I'll tell ya, nothing beats having the weekend off. Now all I gotta do is make it through tomorrow...
